Proraso Cream vs Proraso Foam - Which Is Best?

Proraso Cream vs Proraso Foam

Which is Best?

Hi Gents.

Yeah, it is a bit of a weird one, but when I saw Proraso was available in a canned foam, I wondered how it would compare with the wonderful and popular Proraso in a tube.

If you have been wet shaving traditionally for some time, then you'll know all about Proraso shaving cream in a tube. If you don't shave with traditional razors (i.e., safety or straight razors), then the foam in a can by Proraso might be worth trying out.

I tested the foam in a can and cream in a tube--side by side--to see how they compared.

I haven't used foam in a can for a few years, and the Proraso stuff was a surprisingly great-looking foam (creamy lather--rather than foamy).

I bought both the can and tube in Proraso Red (sandalwood), which is aimed at those with coarse and normal beards/stubble. I used both a cartridge razor (Gillette ProGlide) and a safety razor (Parker Injector Adjustable).

Bottom Line

While the foam produced a great-looking lather, almost perfect, it was missing something that makes applying a lubricant with a shaving brush. One thing missing was the exfoliating part of using a brush with lather.

The foam dried out quicker than the tubed cream, and it did not feel close to the skin, if that makes sense.

When using the foam, I got a slight stinging feeling, which I have never felt with the soap and creams I have used. That’s not something I want!

The cream in a tube was superior, without a doubt.

If you usually use foam, then Proraso in a can is one to try out--or even give the cream in a tube a go.
